AW x HM

Possibly the most awaited fashion collaboration of the year, Alexander Wang x H&M was finally launched in stores and online today. Shoppers all over the world have been filled with Wang-based anxiety in anticipation of the 61-piece line launched just a few hours ago in the UK. In fact, hundreds have been seen queuing outside H&M's Oxford Circus store in the early hours of this morning. It's no surprise though, this collection is just as chic, sporty, and boundary-pushing as we expected! With plentiful Wang logos, mesh panels, an iconic scuba material, and most importantly, an affordable and tangible price tag, this collaboration definitely did not disappoint.

However, as fab as this collection is, it does still have its faults. All is great if you're a woman UK size 6-12, but what about those who are larger? The collection's largest size, being a M (UK 10/12), doesn't promote very healthy body ideals in my opinion. It is no secret that the fashion industry has always challenged body image, often shaming women larger than a size 10. This collection definitely reinforces that, limiting those who, like myself, have a little junk in their trunk.

An alternative forthcoming collaboration that I am very excited about is Beyoncé x Topshop. Like Wang's collaboration with H&M, Beyoncé aims to launch a "global athletic street-wear brand" in Autumn 2015. Hopefully this line will consider the rest of us!
